Global Legal Times proudly partnered with the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) to organize NIDAR (National Initiative for Delivery of Accessible Remedies), a groundbreaking event that marked a quarter-century of SILF's transformative impact on India's legal landscape. Held in New Delhi, this milestone gathering brought together the nation's most distinguished legal minds to address one of the profession's most pressing imperatives: ensuring accessible, affordable, and efficient justice delivery for all Indians.
Event Highlights
NIDAR transcended traditional conference formats to become a movement. It united senior advocates, managing partners of India's leading law firms, judges, legal aid advocates, technology innovators and policymakers in a shared commitment to bridging the justice gap. The event was graced by Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi as our Chief Guest and Mr. R. Venkataramani, Attorney General of India as our Guest of Honor elevating the status of the event.
The SILF Legacy
The event honored SILF's remarkable 25-year journey championing professionalism and excellence in Indian legal practice. SILF has been instrumental in elevating India's legal profession to global standards while maintaining deep commitment to social responsibility. NIDAR represented the culmination of this legacy while launching a forward-looking vision: a legal ecosystem where quality representation is not a privilege of the affluent but a fundamental right accessible to every citizen. The initiative's name itself, NIDAR, meaning "fearless" in Hindi, embodied the bold ambition to reimagine justice delivery in the world's largest democracy.

Smt. Rekha Gupta is the Chief Minister of Delhi and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, known for her strong commitment to public service, inclusive governance, women’s empowerment and civic development. She began her public life with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in 1992, served as President of the Delhi University Students’ Union in 1996–97 and entered electoral politics as Municipal Councillor from North Pitampura in 2007 where she focused on infrastructure improvement, sanitation, environmental initiatives, public amenities and urban mobility solutions. Her leadership has led to impactful initiatives including free health checkups for women and children, the Common Admission Form system for students, Sexual Harassment Prevention Committees in educational institutions, welfare and pension schemes for women, the Sumedha Yojana for girls’ education, leadership training for women councillors and the establishment of Delhi’s first women-only recreational park - Sita Vatika. As Chief Minister, she continues to strengthen public service delivery with a focus on marginalized communities, advancing the vision of a developed Delhi in alignment with the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Our Guest of Honor
Mr. R. Venkataramani is the Attorney General of India and one of the country’s most respected legal minds, with over 42 years of distinguished practice before the Supreme Court of India. Enrolled with the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu in 1977, he trained under Mr. P. P. Rao, Senior Advocate, established his independent practice in 1982 and was designated Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court in 1997. His expertise spans constitutional law, arbitration, taxation, corporate and securities law, environmental and education law, land and service laws, criminal law, human rights and consumer law. He has represented multiple State Governments, public sector undertakings, universities and government departments, including serving as counsel for the Supreme Court in service matters. Appointed as a Member of the Law Commission of India in 2010 and reappointed in 2013, he has also been deeply engaged in legal education since 1988 through his association with the National Law School of India University and other law schools, reflecting a sustained commitment to the rule of law, legal scholarship and institutional development in India.
